1991 Buick Regal Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions

Important Notice: Performing this procedure will erase all previously programmed remotes. Any working remotes must be reprogrammed during this session to retain functionality.

Programming Instructions:

  • Step 1: Open the trunk and locate the programming connector wire on the right-hand side. You may need to pull back the trunk liner to find the black wire with a white stripe and a single-terminal plastic connector.
  • Step 2: Ground the terminal in the connector by attaching it to a nearby metal surface, such as a bolt or the trunk latch. Keep the wire grounded throughout the entire programming process.
  • Step 3: Once the terminal is grounded, the vehicle will automatically lock and unlock the doors, signaling that it has entered programming mode.
  • Step 4: Press any button on the first remote. The system will respond by locking and unlocking the doors once, confirming successful programming.
  • Step 5: Repeat Step 4 for each additional remote, including any remotes previously in use. Do not remove the ground connection between remotes.
  • Step 6: After all remotes have been programmed, disconnect the programming wire from ground to exit programming mode.
  • Step 7: Test all remotes to ensure they are functioning correctly.

Additional Tips: You can program multiple remotes in one session. If the doors do not respond during programming, recheck the ground connection and start again. Only remotes programmed during the same session will function with the vehicle.
