Programming Guide for 1993 Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: The 1993 model supports onboard programming for remote keyless entry fobs. This procedure allows you to manually program remote fobs using the vehicle’s Data Link Connector (DLC). These instructions apply only to remote fobs and do not cover ignition or transponder key programming.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Sit inside the vehicle and make sure all doors are closed.
  • Step 2: Locate the Data Link Connector (DLC) beneath the dashboard on the driver’s side. The connector is rectangular with multiple pin cavities. It is not labeled, so use the connector's shape to identify the correct cavities.
  • Step 3: Using a fused jumper wire, connect cavity G to cavity A on the DLC. Once the connection is made, the door locks should cycle (lock and unlock) within two seconds, indicating that the vehicle has entered programming mode.
  • Step 4: On the first remote fob, press any button once. The locks will cycle again to confirm successful programming of the remote.
  • Step 5: If you have a second remote to program, press any button on the second remote. The locks will cycle again to confirm it has been successfully added.
  • Step 6: After programming all remotes, remove the jumper wire from the DLC to exit programming mode.
  • Step 7: Test each remote to ensure all functions—such as lock and unlock—are working correctly.

Additional Considerations:

Remote Capacity: The system typically supports up to two remotes.

Battery Condition: Verify that all remotes have functional batteries before starting the procedure.

Ignition Key Programming: Ignition keys for this model cannot be programmed using this method. A qualified technician with proper equipment is required.

Restart if Needed: If the locks do not respond at any stage, disconnect the jumper wire and begin the process again from Step 1.
