Keyless Entry Remote Programming Instructions – 1994 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight
Important Notice: This vehicle supports onboard programming through the diagnostic port. All remotes must be programmed during the same session, or they will be erased from memory.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Insert the key into the ignition and leave it in the OFF position.
- Step 2: Locate the Data Link Connector (DLC) under the driver’s side dashboard. It is trapezoidal in shape and typically follows the OBD-style layout. Although not labeled, terminal 8 is in the top row, far right; terminal 4 is in the bottom row, second from the left.
- Step 3: Confirm that both terminals 8 and 4 have metal contacts. Use a jumper wire to connect terminal 8 to terminal 4. Leave the jumper wire in place for the entire procedure. The vehicle will lock and unlock the doors, indicating it has entered programming mode.
- Step 4: Ensure all doors are closed.
- Step 5: Turn the ignition to the ON position (without starting the engine). The door locks will activate, confirming programming readiness.
- Step 6: On the first remote, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously. After approximately 15 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock again to confirm successful programming. Release the buttons.
- Step 7: Within one minute, repeat Step 6 for any additional remotes you wish to program.
- Step 8: After programming is complete, remove the jumper wire from the DLC.
- Step 9: Test all remotes to ensure full functionality.
