Programming Guide for 1994 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: The 1994 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight supports on-board programming for keyless entry remotes using the vehicle’s Data Link Connector (DLC). No special tools are required, but it is important to correctly identify the appropriate connector terminals.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Insert the key into the ignition and leave it in the OFF position.
- Step 2: Locate the Data Link Connector (DLC) under the dashboard on the driver’s side. It is trapezoidal in shape with the wider edge at the top. Terminals are not labeled, so reference a diagram to identify terminal 8 and terminal 4.
- Step 3: Confirm that metal contact pins are present in terminals 8 and 4. Then, use a suitable jumper wire to connect terminal 8 to terminal 4. Keep the jumper wire connected throughout the entire programming process.
- Step 4: The vehicle will automatically lock and unlock the doors to confirm it has entered programming mode.
- Step 5: Ensure all doors are fully closed before proceeding.
- Step 6: Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (just before engine start). The doors will lock again, signaling readiness for programming.
- Step 7: On the first remote to be programmed, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously. After approximately 15 seconds, the doors will cycle again to confirm successful programming. Release the buttons.
- Step 8: Within 60 seconds, repeat Step 7 for any additional remotes you wish to program.
- Step 9: Once all remotes are programmed, remove the jumper wire from the DLC connector to exit programming mode.
- Step 10: Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key from the ignition. Step 11: Test all programmed remotes to ensure proper operation.
