Programming Guide for 1995 Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: The 1995 model supports onboard programming for remote keyless entry fobs. This procedure allows manual programming using the vehicle’s Data Link Connector (DLC). These steps apply only to remote fobs and do not include ignition key programming.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Sit in the driver’s seat with all doors fully closed. Have all remotes ready before beginning.
  • Step 2: Insert the key into the ignition and leave it in the OFF position.
  • Step 3: Locate the Data Link Connector (DLC) beneath the dashboard on the driver’s side. The port is rectangular and wider at the top. This orientation will help you identify terminal locations.
  • Step 4: Identify terminals 8 and 4. Although the connector may not be labeled, terminal locations can be determined by counting positions from left to right. Make sure both terminals contain visible metal contact pins.
  • Step 5: Use a jumper wire to connect terminal 8 to terminal 4. Keep the jumper wire connected throughout the entire programming process.
  • Step 6: Turn the ignition to the ON position without starting the engine. The door locks should cycle (lock and unlock), indicating the vehicle has entered programming mode.
  • Step 7: On the first remote, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the same time. Continue holding for approximately 15 seconds until the door locks cycle again. Release the buttons once the locks respond.
  • Step 8: If programming a second remote, repeat Step 7 within one minute of programming the first one.
  • Step 9: Turn the ignition back to the OFF position and remove the jumper wire from the DLC.
  • Step 10: Test each remote to ensure the lock and unlock functions work correctly.

Additional Considerations:

Remote Capacity: A maximum of two remote fobs can be programmed to the system.

Battery Condition: Confirm that all remotes have working batteries before beginning the procedure.

Ignition Key Programming: This process does not apply to ignition key programming. A qualified technician with the proper equipment is required for that service.

Start Over if Needed: If the locks do not respond during the procedure, disconnect the jumper wire and restart the process from Step 1.
