Programming Guide for 1995 Mercury Sable Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: The 1995 Mercury Sable may be equipped with a keyless entry system that supports onboard programming for remote fobs. The process requires access to a two-pin programming connector located in the left rear quarter panel area. Note: Not all vehicles were equipped with keyless entry from the factory. If the connector is not present, the vehicle may not support remote programming.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Sit in the driver’s seat and ensure that all doors are securely closed.
- Step 2: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the RUN or ACCESSORY (ACC) position. Do not start the engine.
- Step 3: Locate the two-pin programming connector in the left rear quarter panel area (usually accessed from the trunk or cargo area). The connector should not be plugged into anything and should have two open pins inside. If the connector is already plugged into a module or device, it is the wrong one.
- Step 4: Use a jumper wire or paperclip to momentarily connect the two terminals inside the programming connector. Once the connection is made, the horn will chirp once, confirming that the vehicle has entered programming mode.
- Step 5: Within a few seconds, press any button on the first keyless remote fob. The door locks will cycle once, confirming that the remote has been successfully programmed.
- Step 6: If you are programming a second remote fob, press any button on it within 20 seconds of the first remote. The door locks will cycle again, confirming the second remote has been programmed.
- Step 7: Once all desired remotes are programmed, turn the ignition to the OFF position.
- Step 8: The door locks will cycle one final time, indicating that the programming session has ended.
- Step 9: Disconnect the jumper wire from the programming connector and replace any interior trim that was removed to access the connector.
- Step 10: Test all remotes to ensure that the lock and unlock buttons are working as expected.
Additional Considerations: Only vehicles factory-equipped with keyless entry support this procedure. If the connector is missing or already plugged into a module, the vehicle may not be equipped for remote programming. All remotes must be programmed during the same session. If any remotes are missed, they will need to be reprogrammed. Ensure the batteries in each remote are functioning before starting the procedure to avoid programming failures. Be sure to press each remote’s button promptly to prevent the system from exiting programming mode prematurely.
