Keyless Entry Remote Programming Instructions – 1995 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight
Important Notice: This vehicle allows onboard programming using the diagnostic port. All remotes must be programmed in the same session. Any remotes not programmed during this process will be erased from memory.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Insert the ignition key and leave it in the OFF position. Step 2: Locate the Data Link Connector (DLC) beneath the driver's side dashboard. The connector is trapezoidal in shape. Although the terminals are not labeled, use the standard layout to identify the correct pins: Terminal 8: Top row, far right Terminal 4: Bottom row, second from the left Step 3: Ensure both terminals have metal contacts. Connect terminal 8 to terminal 4 using a jumper wire, and leave it in place throughout the procedure. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm that the vehicle has entered programming mode.
- Step 4: Make sure all doors are fully closed.
- Step 5: Turn the ignition to the ON position (without starting the engine). The doors will lock again to confirm the system is ready for programming.
- Step 6: On the first remote, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously. After approximately 15 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock to indicate the remote has been successfully programmed. Release the buttons.
- Step 7: Within 60 seconds, repeat Step 6 for each additional remote you wish to program.
- Step 8: When finished, remove the jumper wire from the DLC to exit programming mode.
- Step 9: Test all remotes to ensure proper operation of the keyless entry system.
