1996 Buick Regal Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Notice: This programming process will erase all previously stored remotes. Any existing remotes must be reprogrammed during this session to remain functional.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Open the trunk and locate the programming connector wire on the right-hand side of the trunk area. You may need to pull back the interior trunk trim to find a black wire with a white stripe that ends in a single-terminal plastic connector.
- Step 2: Ground the terminal by attaching it to a bare metal surface, such as a bolt or the trunk latch. Important: Keep the wire grounded for the duration of the programming procedure.
- Step 3: Once grounded, the vehicle will automatically lock and unlock the doors, signaling that it has entered programming mode.
- Step 4: Press any button on the first remote fob. The vehicle will lock and unlock the doors once, confirming that the remote has been successfully programmed.
- Step 5: Repeat Step 4 for each additional remote, including any previously working remotes. Note: Do not disconnect the ground wire until all remotes have been programmed.
- Step 6: After programming all remotes, remove the ground connection to exit programming mode.
- Step 7: Test each remote to ensure all buttons and functions are working as expected.
Additional Tips: Typically, up to two remotes can be programmed for this vehicle. If the doors do not respond during programming, double-check the ground connection and repeat the process. All remotes must be programmed in the same session, or they will not function.
