Programming Guide for 1996 Buick Roadmaster Keyless Entry Remote Fob

(Onboard Programming – Step-by-Step Instructions)

Important Notice: Only two remote fobs can be programmed for this vehicle. If you are adding a new remote, all remotes must be programmed in the same session, or previously working fobs will be erased from memory.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Open the trunk and locate the programming connector on the driver’s side (LH). → You may need to gently pull back the trunk lining to reveal the connector. → The connector will have black and white wires and will not be connected to anything.
  • Step 2: Use a jumper wire to connect the terminals in the programming connector. → Keep the jumper in place throughout the procedure until Step 6.
  • Step 3: The vehicle will automatically lock and unlock the doors once, indicating it has entered programming mode.
  • Step 4: On the first remote, press any button once. → The door locks will cycle again to confirm successful programming.
  • Step 5: If you are programming a second remote, press any button on the second fob now. → The locks will cycle once more to confirm its acceptance. The system will accept a maximum of two remote transmitters.
  • Step 6: Disconnect the jumper wire from the programming connector to exit programming mode.
  • Step 7: Test all remote fobs to confirm proper functionality.
