Programming Guide for 1996 Buick Skylark Keyless Entry Remote Fob
(Onboard Programming Instructions)
Important Notes: You can program a maximum of two remotes to this vehicle. All remotes must be programmed during the same session, as entering programming mode will erase all previously stored codes.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Open the trunk and locate the programming connector on the driver’s side (LH) of the trunk. → You may need to peel back the interior trunk trim to access the connector. → The connector is not plugged into anything and typically features black and white wires.
- Step 2: Use a jumper wire to connect the terminals on the programming connector. → Keep the jumper wire in place through Step 6.
- Step 3: The vehicle will lock and unlock the doors, confirming entry into programming mode.
- Step 4: Press any button on the first keyless remote. → The locks will cycle again, confirming successful programming.
- Step 5: To program a second remote, press any button on the additional remote. → The locks will again lock and unlock to confirm programming. Only two remotes can be programmed in total.
- Step 6: Remove the jumper wire to exit programming mode.
- Step 7: Test both remotes to confirm they operate correctly.
