1997 Buick Century Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: Before beginning the programming process, ensure that you have all the remotes you wish to program. Once the programming is completed, all previous codes stored in the system will be erased. Any remotes not programmed during this session will no longer function.
- Step 1: Ensure All Vehicle Doors Are Closed Ensure that all doors on the vehicle are securely closed before beginning the programming process.
- Step 2: Insert the Key into the Ignition Insert your ignition key into the ignition switch and turn it to the ON position, but do not start the engine.
- Step 3: Turn the Ignition Off and Remove the Key Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and remove the key from the ignition.
- Step 4: Press and Hold the Unlock Button on the Door Lock Switch Press and hold the UNLOCK button on the driver’s side door lock switch.
- Step 5: Insert the Key into the Ignition Insert the ignition key back into the ignition lock cylinder. Do not turn the key, and remove it again after inserting.
- Step 6: Repeat Step 5 Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder a second time, without turning it, and remove it again.
- Step 7: Insert the Key and Leave it in the Ignition Insert the ignition key a third time into the ignition lock cylinder. Do not turn the key, but leave it in the ignition lock cylinder.
- Step 8: Release the Door Lock Switch Release the UNLOCK button on the driver’s side door lock switch. At this point, the vehicle should emit three beeps, indicating that programming mode has been activated.
- Step 9: Program the First Remote Press both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the first keyless entry remote simultaneously and hold them down. Keep pressing both buttons until the vehicle beeps twice, confirming that the remote has been successfully programmed.
- Step 10: Wait for Confirmation After the vehicle beeps twice, you should now have a successfully programmed keyless entry remote. The system is now ready to accept additional remotes.
- Step 11: Program Additional Remotes (If Needed) To program additional remotes, repeat Step 9 for each additional keyless entry remote. Up to four remotes can be programmed to the vehicle.
- Step 12: Ensure All Remotes Are Programmed Verify that each remote has been programmed correctly by checking if the vehicle locks and unlocks properly with each remote. Ensure that the system responds to the lock/unlock buttons on all remotes.
- Step 13: Finish Programming All Remotes Once all remotes have been programmed, make sure that each one is functional. All previously programmed remotes will no longer work unless they are reprogrammed during this process.
- Step 14: Remove the Ignition Key to Exit Programming Mode To exit the programming mode, remove the ignition key from the ignition switch.
- Step 15: Test the Remotes Test all programmed remotes to ensure they are functioning as expected. Try locking and unlocking the doors, as well as activating the trunk release, to confirm that the system works with each keyless entry remote.
