Programming Guide for 1997 Buick Skylark Keyless Entry Remote Fob
(Onboard Programming Instructions)
Important Notes: This vehicle supports onboard programming for up to two remote fobs. All remotes must be programmed during the same session. Programming a new remote will erase all previously stored remotes.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Ensure the ignition is in the OFF position and the key is removed.
- Step 2: Open the trunk and locate the keyless programming connector on the driver’s side. → This is a plastic connector with two wires, not connected to anything. → You may need to pull back the interior trunk trim to access it.
- Step 3: Using a jumper wire, connect the two terminals of the programming connector together. → Keep the jumper wire connected throughout the programming process.
- Step 4: On the first remote, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously. → The door locks will cycle (lock and unlock) to confirm successful programming.
- Step 5: If you have additional remotes to program, repeat Step 4 for each one. → Make sure to program them before removing the jumper wire.
- Step 6: Once all remotes are programmed, remove the jumper wire from the programming connector.
- Step 7: Test each remote to ensure they function properly.
