Programming Guide for 1997 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – Cadillac Seville
Important Notice: The 1997 Seville supports onboard programming for remote entry fobs. The procedure depends on whether the vehicle is equipped with an analog or digital instrument cluster. Follow the correct steps for your configuration. The system will exit programming mode if inactive for more than 30 seconds during key steps.
Procedure for Vehicles with Analog Instrument Cluster:
- Step 1: Enter Diagnostic Mode Press and hold the OFF and WARM buttons on the Climate Control Panel simultaneously. All dashboard lights will briefly illuminate, then turn off. This indicates the system has entered diagnostic mode.
- Step 2: Access the Remote Programming Menu Press the PASSENGER COOLER button repeatedly until RFA appears on the display. Press FAN UP to enter. If RFA DATA is displayed, press FAN DOWN. If RFA OVERRIDE is shown, press FAN UP again.
- Step 3: Begin Programming Sequence When RFA 500 NO OVERRIDE is displayed, press FAN DOWN. Wait for RFA 501 PROGRAM FOB #1, then press FAN UP. A “0” will appear on the Driver Information Center—press the WARM button until it displays 99.
- Step 4: Program the First Remote Press and hold the TRUNK button on the remote. While holding TRUNK, press and hold the LOCK button for one second. Continue holding both buttons for a total of 3 seconds. The door locks will cycle to confirm successful programming. If not completed within 30 seconds of selecting “99”, the session will exit. Restart from Step 2 if needed.
- Step 5: Program a Second Remote (Optional) Press FAN DOWN until RFA 502 PROGRAM FOB #2 appears. Press FAN UP, then repeat Step 4 for the second remote.
- Step 6: Exit Programming Mode Press any of the following: AUTO, MODE UP, MODE DOWN, or RESET.
