Programming Guide for 1997 Mitsubishi 3000GT Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: The 1997 Mitsubishi 3000GT requires the use of the data port and jumper wire for programming keyless entry remote fobs. Ensure you know the location of the data port and are familiar with the correct terminals to avoid errors.

Expanded Programming Instructions:

  • Step 1: Locate the Data Port under the dashboard. This is typically near the driver’s side. Ensure you have access to it before beginning the process.
  • Step 2: Insert the key into the ignition and leave it in the OFF position. Do not turn the ignition key to the ACC or RUN positions yet.
  • Step 3: Verify that there are metal contact pins in terminals 1 and 4 of the data port. Using a suitable jumper wire, connect terminals 1 and 4 in the data port. Important: The jumper wire must remain connected throughout the entire programming process, so ensure it stays in place.
  • Step 4: Within 10 seconds after connecting the jumper wire, turn the ignition switch to the ACC (accessory) position, and then back to the OFF position. Note: The door locks will automatically lock and unlock once, signaling that the system has entered programming mode.
  • Step 5: Press the LOCK button on the first keyless remote transmitter to be programmed. Press it three times within 10 seconds. The door locks will cycle (lock and unlock) once to confirm the remote has been successfully programmed.
  • Step 6: If you are programming two remotes, follow Step 5 for the first remote, then proceed to program the second remote. To program the second remote, repeat Step 5 within one minute of programming the first remote. Once the second remote is successfully programmed, the doors will cycle once again to confirm both remotes are programmed.
  • Step 7: Once all remotes have been programmed, disconnect the jumper wire from the data port. Then, remove the keys from the ignition to exit programming mode.
  • Step 8: Test the functionality of each remote by pressing the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons. Ensure the remotes are working properly and within range.

Additional Considerations: All remotes must be programmed in the same session. If a remote is not included, it will need to be reprogrammed. Ensure the timing is accurate. If there’s a delay between steps, the system may exit programming mode, and you will need to restart the process. Check the battery in each remote to ensure it is functioning properly before starting the programming process.
