Keyless Entry Remote Programming Instructions – 1997 Oldsmobile Bravada
Important Notice: This vehicle supports onboard programming for keyless entry remotes. All remotes must be programmed during the same session. Any remote not programmed will be erased from memory.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Locate the Data Link Connector (DLC) beneath the driver’s side dashboard. The connector is trapezoid-shaped and does not have labeled pins. Terminal 8 is the top row, far right Terminal 4 is the bottom row, second from the left
- Step 2: Confirm both terminals have metal contacts. Use a jumper wire to connect terminal 8 to terminal 4, and keep the jumper in place throughout the procedure. When connected correctly, the vehicle will lock and unlock the doors, signaling that it has entered programming mode.
- Step 3: On the first remote, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the same time. After approximately 15 seconds, the vehicle will lock and unlock again, confirming the remote has been accepted. Release the buttons.
- Step 4: Within 60 seconds, repeat Step 3 for any additional remotes you wish to program.
- Step 5: Once all remotes have been programmed, remove the jumper wire from the Data Link Connector to exit programming mode.
- Final Step: Test all remotes to ensure that locking, unlocking, and other functions operate correctly.
