Acura CL Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions – 1998 Model

Important: This vehicle supports manual (onboard) programming. Follow the steps below carefully to program up to three remote fobs.

Step-by-Step Programming Instructions:

• Step 1: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ON (II) position.
• Step 2: Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the lock or unlock button on the remote while pointing it toward the keyless receiver (typically located near the steering column). Step 3: Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. Step 4: Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch back to the ON (II) position. Step 5: Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the lock or unlock button on the remote again while aiming at the receiver. Step 6: Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. Step 7: Within 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch back to the ON (II) position. Step 8: Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the lock or unlock button on the remote. Step 9: Within 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. Step 10: Within 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch back to the ON (II) position. Step 11: Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the lock or unlock button on the remote once more. Step 12: You should hear the door lock actuators cycle, confirming the vehicle is in programming mode. Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the lock or unlock button again. Step 13: Within 10 seconds, program up to three remotes by aiming each remote at the receiver and pressing the lock or unlock button. The door locks should cycle each time a code is successfully stored. Step 14: Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and remove the key. Step 15: Test each remote to confirm that it has been programmed correctly. "
