1998 Buick Century Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: Before starting the programming process, ensure you have all the remotes you wish to program for your vehicle. Once the remotes are programmed, all previous codes will be erased from the system, and any unprogrammed remotes will no longer work until reprogrammed.

  • Step 1: Ensure All Vehicle Doors Are Closed Before you begin the programming, make sure that all doors on the vehicle are securely closed.
  • Step 2: Turn the Ignition to the ""ON"" Position Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position (as far as you can without starting the engine).
  • Step 3: Turn the Ignition Off and Remove the Key Turn the ignition off and remove the key from the ignition.
  • Step 4: Press and Hold the Door Lock Switch Press and hold the UNLOCK button on the driver’s side door lock switch.
  • Step 5: Insert the Key into the Ignition Insert the key back into the ignition lock cylinder, but do not turn the key. Immediately remove the key after inserting it.
  • Step 6: Repeat the Previous Step Insert the key into the ignition again, but do not turn the key. Remove the key right away.
  • Step 7: Insert the Key and Leave it in the Ignition Insert the ignition key into the lock cylinder one more time, but do not turn the key, and leave the key in the ignition lock cylinder.
  • Step 8: Release the Door Lock Switch Release the UNLOCK button on the door lock switch. The vehicle will emit three beeps, indicating that programming mode has been activated.
  • Step 9: Press the Lock and Unlock Buttons Together Press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the keyless entry remote simultaneously. Hold them until the vehicle beeps twice, confirming that the remote has been successfully programmed. This process will take approximately 15 seconds.
  • Step 10: Program Additional Remotes (If Needed) Repeat Step 9 to program up to four remotes (including any previously used remotes). Each remote must be programmed within the active programming mode.
  • Step 11: Exit Programming Mode Once all remotes are programmed, remove the ignition key from the ignition to exit the programming mode.
  • Step 12: Test Each Programmed Remote Test each keyless entry remote by pressing the buttons to ensure the vehicle locks and unlocks properly. Check that all functions, such as the trunk release, work as expected.
  • Step 13: Verify All Remotes Make sure that all programmed remotes are fully operational, including locking/unlocking, panic buttons, and trunk release.
  • Step 14: Ensure Functionality of Additional Remotes If more remotes are programmed, ensure that all of them are functioning properly by testing each one individually.
  • Step 15: Final Check Confirm that all programmed remotes work as intended with the vehicle’s keyless entry system.
