Programming Guide for 1998 Buick Skylark Keyless Entry Remote Fob
(Onboard Programming Procedure)
Important Notes: This vehicle allows onboard programming for up to two remote transmitters. All remotes must be programmed during the same session. Adding a new remote will erase all previous remotes from memory.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Ensure the ignition is in the OFF position and the key is removed.
- Step 2: Open the trunk and locate the keyless programming connector on the driver’s side. → This is a plastic connector with two wires, not plugged into anything. → You may need to pull back the trunk trim to see it.
- Step 3: Use a jumper wire to connect both terminals of the programming connector together. → Keep the terminals connected for the entire procedure.
- Step 4: On the first remote fob, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the same time. → Wait for the door locks to cycle (lock and unlock) — this confirms successful programming.
- Step 5: If you have another remote, repeat Step 4 to program it. → Do not remove the jumper wire between remote programming.
- Step 6: After all remotes have been programmed, remove the jumper wire from the connector.
- Step 7: Test all remotes to confirm that each one operates the door locks properly.
