Programming Guide for 1998 Mazda B-Series Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: The 1998 Mazda B-Series supports on-board programming of keyless entry remotes. Up to two remotes can be programmed during the same session. Follow the steps below carefully to ensure successful programming.

Programming Instructions:

  • Step 1: Ensure all doors are closed. Then, open the driver’s door and press the UNLOCK button on the driver’s door panel. Leave the door open.
  • Step 2: Insert the key into the ignition.
  • Step 3: Turn the ignition from OFF to RUN (the position just before starting the engine) eight times within 10 seconds, ending in the RUN position on the eighth cycle. The door locks will cycle, indicating that the vehicle has entered programming mode.
  • Step 4: Within 20 seconds, press any button on the first remote. The door locks will cycle again, confirming successful programming.
  • Step 5: Within the next 20 seconds, press any button on the second remote (if applicable). The locks will cycle, confirming the second remote has been successfully programmed.
  • Step 6: Turn the ignition to the OFF position. The door locks will cycle one final time, indicating the vehicle has exited programming mode.
