Programming Guide for 1998 Oldsmobile Silhouette Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: The 1998 Oldsmobile Silhouette allows on-board programming of remote key fobs using the BCM PRGRM fuse method. This process erases all previously stored remote codes and requires programming all remotes (new and existing) during the same session.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Remove the key from the ignition.
- Step 2: Open the front passenger door to access the fuse panel. Locate and remove the BCM PRGRM fuse using the diagram on the panel for reference.
- Step 3: Ensure all doors and the liftgate are securely closed.
- Step 4: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ACC position (one click toward you, opposite of the start direction).
- Step 5: Within 1 second, turn the ignition to OFF, then back to ACC.
- Step 6: Open and close any vehicle door. A chime will sound, confirming that the system has entered programming mode.
- Step 7: On the first remote, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously. After approximately 7 seconds, a chime may sound, indicating successful synchronization. Continue holding the buttons for about 14 seconds total, until a second chime confirms successful programming.
- Step 8: Repeat Step 7 for each additional remote you wish to program, including any previously working remotes. All remotes must be reprogrammed during this session.
- Step 9: Turn the ignition to OFF and remove the key.
- Step 10: Reinstall the BCM PRGRM fuse into the fuse panel.
- Step 11: Test each remote to confirm proper function.
