1999 Buick Park Avenue Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Notice: The 1999 Buick Park Avenue supports onboard programming of keyless entry remote fobs using the vehicle’s diagnostic port. Follow the steps precisely for successful programming.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Prepare the Ignition Insert the key into the ignition, but leave it in the OFF position. Do not turn the key at this stage.
- Step 2: Access the Diagnostic Port Locate the Data Link Connector (OBDII port) beneath the dashboard on the driver’s side. Identify terminals 4 and 8. (Note: The port is wider at the top. Terminals are not labeled, so refer to a pinout diagram for orientation.)
- Step 3: Enter Programming Mode Confirm that terminals 4 and 8 have metal contact pins. Use a jumper wire to connect terminal 4 to terminal 8. Leave this jumper in place throughout the programming process. The door locks will lock and unlock to confirm that programming mode has been activated.
- Step 4: Ready the Vehicle Ensure all doors are closed. Turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start the engine). The doors will automatically lock again, indicating readiness to receive remote signals.
- Step 5: Program the First Remote On the first remote, press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the same time. Continue holding for about 15 seconds until the vehicle locks and unlocks the doors, confirming successful programming. Release the buttons.
- Step 6: Program Additional Remotes Within 60 seconds, repeat Step 5 for any additional remotes you wish to program. Each remote must be programmed during the same session.
- Step 7: Exit Programming Mode Remove the jumper wire from terminals 4 and 8 on the diagnostic port. Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key.
