1999 Buick Regal

Programming Guide for 1999 Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: Before beginning this procedure, ensure that all remote fobs to be used with the vehicle are available. During the process, all previously stored remotes will be erased from memory. Any fobs not reprogrammed during this session will no longer function. This guide applies only to remote fobs and does not include ignition key programming.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Ensure all doors are completely closed before beginning.
  • Step 2: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position (do not start the engine).
  • Step 3: Turn the ignition to the OFF position and remove the key from the ignition.
  • Step 4: Press and hold the UNLOCK button on the driver’s side power door lock switch.
  • Step 5: While holding the UNLOCK button, insert the key into the ignition and remove it immediately. Do not turn the key.
  • Step 6: Repeat the previous step: insert the key again and remove it without turning.
  • Step 7: Insert the key into the ignition a third time and leave it in place. Again, do not turn the key.
  • Step 8: Release the UNLOCK button. The vehicle should emit three chimes, confirming that it has entered programming mode.
  • Step 9: On the first remote fob, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously. Hold them for about 15 seconds, or until the vehicle chimes twice to confirm successful programming.
  • Step 10: Repeat Step 9 for any additional remotes you wish to program. You may program up to four remotes during this session.
  • Step 11: After all remotes have been programmed, remove the key from the ignition to exit programming mode.
  • Step 12: Test each remote to ensure full functionality, including lock, unlock, and panic functions if available.

Additional Considerations:

Remote Limit: This vehicle supports up to four programmed remotes.

Battery Condition: Ensure all remotes have working batteries prior to programming.

Ignition Key Programming: This process does not include ignition or transponder key programming. Specialized equipment and professional assistance are required for that procedure.

If Programming Fails: If the system does not respond as described, begin the process again from Step 1.
