1999 Cadillac Escalade

Programming Guide for 1999 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – Cadillac Escalade

Important Notice: Entering programming mode will erase all previously paired remotes. To retain functionality, all remotes intended for use with the vehicle must be reprogrammed during the same session. The system supports programming of up to four remote fobs.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Position the Ignition Insert the ignition key and turn it to the RUN position (do not start the engine), then turn it OFF. This initializes the vehicle’s system for programming.
  • Step 2: Remove the Radio Fuse Locate and remove the Radio fuse, typically Fuse #17, from the interior fuse panel. This step enables access to the keyless entry programming mode.
  • Step 3: Activate Programming Mode Turn the ignition key from OFF to RUN three times in rapid succession, completing the cycle within five seconds. The vehicle will respond by automatically locking all doors, unlocking the driver’s door, and releasing the tailgate or rear doors. This sequence confirms that the vehicle has entered remote programming mode.
  • Step 4: Program the First Remote Press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote simultaneously. Continue holding the buttons for approximately 15 seconds, or until you hear the locks cycle (lock and unlock), indicating successful programming.
  • Step 5: Program Additional Remotes (If Applicable) Repeat Step 4 for each additional remote you wish to program, up to a maximum of four remotes. Each remote must be programmed within the same session. Wait for the lock cycle to confirm each remote has been accepted.
  • Step 6: Exit Programming Mode Reinstall the Radio fuse that was removed in Step 2.
  • Step 7: Test All Programmed Remotes Verify the operation of each remote by testing the lock, unlock, and tailgate/rear door functions to ensure proper communication with the vehicle.

Additional Considerations:

Complete Programming in One Session: All remotes must be programmed consecutively. Any remotes not included will be erased and become non-functional.

Battery Condition: Ensure each remote has a fully charged or new battery before starting the programming process.

Fuse Panel Location: Refer to your vehicle’s manual for the exact location of the Radio fuse if Fuse #17 differs on your model.

System Limits: A maximum of four remotes can be programmed to this vehicle.

Time Efficiency: The full procedure generally takes less than 10 minutes to complete.
