1999 Honda Odyssey

1999 Honda Odyssey – Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions

For EX Model with Factory-Installed or Dealer-Installed Keyless Entry System

Important Notes: The system supports up to three remote transmitters. If a fourth remote is programmed, the oldest remote will be erased from memory. Complete each step within 4 seconds of the previous step to avoid exiting programming mode. Ensure the remote is aimed toward the receiver near the glove compartment area.

Programming Procedure

  • Step 1: Turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position.
  • Step 2: Within 4 seconds, press either the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the remote. Ensure the remote is pointed toward the glove box area where the receiver is located.
  • Step 3: Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK (0) position.
  • Step 4: Repeat steps 1 through 3 two more times using the same remote. You should now have completed a total of three ignition cycles with remote input.
  • Step 5: Within 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position once again.
  • Step 6: Within 4 seconds, press either the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the same remote. If the power door locks cycle, the system has successfully entered programming mode.
  • Step 7: Press either the LOCK or UNLOCK button on each additional remote you wish to program. After each button press, the door locks should cycle to confirm that the remote has been accepted.
  • Step 8: Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK (0) position to exit programming mode.
  • Step 9: Test all remotes to confirm proper operation of lock and unlock functions.

For LX Model with Dealer-Installed Keyless Entry System

Note: Entering programming mode will erase all previously programmed remotes. You must reprogram all desired remotes in the same session. Each step must be completed within 5 seconds of the previous one.

Programming Procedure

  • Step 1: Turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position.
  • Step 2: Press either the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the remote. (You may use an unprogrammed remote for this step.)

  • Step 4: Repeat steps 1 through 3 two more times using the same remote. This completes three ignition cycles total.
  • Step 5: Turn the ignition switch to ON (II) again.
  • Step 6: Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the same remote. If the locks cycle, the vehicle has entered programming mode.
  • Step 7: Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on each remote you wish to program. The locks should cycle after each one is accepted.

  • Step 9: Test all remotes to verify functionality.
