Programming Guide for 1999 Mercury Villager Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: The 1999 Mercury Villager supports onboard programming of keyless entry remote fobs. All remotes must be programmed in the same session. Any remote that is missed will be erased from the system and will need to be reprogrammed.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Enter the vehicle and close and lock all doors using the power lock switch on the driver’s door.
- Step 2: Insert the key into the ignition and remove it (without turning it) at least 6 times within 10 seconds. The tail lamps will flash to confirm that the original code has been erased from the system.
- Step 3: Insert the key back into the ignition and turn it to the ACC (accessory) position.
- Step 4: Press the LOCK button on the first keyless remote. The tail lamps will flash to confirm that the first remote has been successfully programmed.
- Step 5: To add additional remotes, unlock and then lock the doors using the power lock switch on the driver’s door.
- Step 6: Press the LOCK button on the second keyless remote. The tail lamps will flash again to confirm that the second remote has been successfully programmed.
- Step 7: Open the driver’s door and turn the ignition to OFF to exit programming mode.
Additional Considerations: All remotes must be programmed in the same session. Any remote that is missed will need to be reprogrammed. Timing is crucial. If too much time passes between steps, the system will exit programming mode, and you will need to restart the process. Check the batteries in each remote before beginning to ensure they are functioning properly.
