Keyless Entry Remote Programming Instructions – 1999 Oldsmobile Aurora
Important Note: All remotes must be programmed in the same session. Any remote not programmed during this process will be erased from the system and will no longer function. Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Insert the ignition key and leave it in the OFF position.
- Step 2: Locate the Data Link Connector (DLC) under the dashboard on the driver’s side. It is a trapezoid-shaped connector. Terminals are not labeled, but: Terminal 4 is on the bottom row, third pin from the left. Terminal 8 is on the top row, third pin from the right.
- Step 3: Confirm there are metal contacts in terminals 4 and 8. Use a jumper wire to connect these two terminals. Leave the jumper in place during the entire procedure. When the connection is made, the door locks will cycle (lock and unlock) to confirm that the system has entered programming mode.
- Step 4: Make sure all doors are closed before proceeding.
- Step 5: Turn the ignition key to the ON position (do not start the engine). The doors will automatically lock, indicating the system is ready to program remotes.
- Step 6: On the first remote, press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the same time. After about 15 seconds, the door locks will cycle again to confirm successful programming. Release the buttons.
- Step 7: Within 60 seconds, repeat Step 6 for any additional remotes you wish to program. Each remote must be programmed individually during the same session.
- Step 8: Once all remotes have been programmed, remove the jumper wire from the DLC to exit programming mode.
- Step 9: Test all remotes to ensure proper operation of lock, unlock, trunk release, and panic functions.
