Keyless Entry Remote Programming Instructions – 1999 Oldsmobile Cutlass

Important Notice: This vehicle supports onboard programming. All remote fobs must be programmed during the same session. Any remote not programmed during the procedure will be erased from the system.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Ensure the ignition is turned OFF before beginning.
  • Step 2: Open the trunk and locate the programming connector on the center of the rear shelf. It is a small plastic plug with two wires and is not connected to anything. You may need to pull back trunk trim to access it.
  • Step 3: Verify that the connector has two metal terminals. Use a jumper wire to connect both terminals. Leave the jumper wire in place throughout the programming process. When connected properly, the door locks will cycle (lock and unlock) once, indicating the vehicle has entered programming mode.
  • Step 4: On the first remote, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the same time for at least 15 seconds, or until the door locks cycle again. This confirms the remote has been successfully programmed and all previously stored remotes have been cleared.
  • Step 5: Repeat Step 4 for each additional remote you wish to program. Do not remove the jumper wire between programming remotes.
  • Step 6: After all remotes are programmed, remove the jumper wire to exit programming mode.
  • Step 7: Test all remotes to ensure proper operation of locking and unlocking functions.
