Programming Guide for 1999 Oldsmobile LSS Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: The 1999 Oldsmobile LSS supports on-board programming of keyless entry remotes using the vehicle’s diagnostic port. This process does not require any specialized tools, but careful identification of connector terminals is essential for success.

Programming Instructions:

  • Step 1: Insert the key into the ignition and leave it in the OFF position.
  • Step 2: Locate the Data Link Connector (DLC) beneath the dashboard on the driver’s side. This is a trapezoidal plug, wider at the top. Although terminals are not labeled, use a reference diagram to identify terminal 8 and terminal 4 correctly.
  • Step 3: Ensure that metal pins are present in both terminal 8 and terminal 4. Then, use a suitable jumper wire to connect these two terminals. Keep the wire in place throughout the entire programming process.
  • Step 4: Once the connection is made, the vehicle will automatically lock and unlock the doors, indicating it has entered programming mode.
  • Step 5: Confirm that all doors are securely closed before continuing.
  • Step 6: Turn the ignition to the ON position (without starting the engine). The door locks will cycle once more, signaling that the system is ready to program remotes.
  • Step 7: Take the first remote and press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously. After approximately 15 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock again, confirming successful programming of that remote. Release the buttons.
  • Step 8: Within 60 seconds, repeat Step 7 for any additional remotes you wish to program.
  • Step 9: Once all remotes are programmed, remove the jumper wire from the OBDII port to exit programming mode.
  • Step 10: Turn the ignition to the OFF position and remove the key.
  • Step 11: Test all remotes to ensure they are functioning correctly.
