Programming Guide for 1999 Oldsmobile Regency Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: The 1999 Oldsmobile Regency supports on-board programming of keyless entry remote fobs using the vehicle’s Data Link Connector (DLC). This process does not require any special tools but does require correct identification of terminal locations. Programming Instructions:

  • Step 1: Insert the key into the ignition and leave it in the OFF position.
  • Step 2: Locate the Data Link Connector (DLC) underneath the dashboard on the driver’s side. This connector is trapezoidal in shape, with the wider edge at the top. Terminal numbers are not labeled, so refer to a diagram to correctly identify terminal 8 and terminal 4.
  • Step 3: Ensure that metal contact pins are present in terminals 8 and 4. Use a suitable jumper wire to connect these two terminals. Leave the jumper wire connected for the entire programming process.
  • Step 4: When the connection is made, the vehicle will automatically lock and unlock the doors, signaling that it has entered programming mode.
  • Step 5: Ensure that all doors are fully closed before proceeding.
  • Step 6: Turn the ignition to the ON position (without starting the engine). The doors will lock again, confirming readiness for programming.
  • Step 7: On the first remote, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously. After about 15 seconds, the doors will cycle again to indicate successful programming. Release the buttons.
  • Step 8: Within 60 seconds, repeat Step 7 for any additional remotes to be programmed.
  • Step 9: Once all remotes have been programmed, remove the jumper wire from the Data Link Connector.
  • Step 10: Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key.
  • Step 11: Test each remote to verify full functionality.
