1999 Toyota Camry – Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Guide
Important Notice: This vehicle supports onboard programming for keyless entry remotes. The receiver module may be located in different areas depending on the trim. Timing is important, so follow the instructions precisely.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position (do not start the engine).
- Step 2: Locate and press the programming button on the receiver module. Press and hold it for 3 seconds. On many models, the receiver is under the driver or passenger seat, behind the dashboard, or behind the mirror control switch (under a black faceplate approximately 5"" x 3""). If the button is recessed, use a pencil or narrow tool to press it.
- Step 3: The status monitor LED (located on the dash or center console) will turn solid for 5 seconds. On some models, you may hear a double horn chirp instead.
- Step 4: While the LED is still on (within 5 seconds), press and release either button (top or bottom) on the remote. You can choose which button operates this vehicle. The other button can be programmed to operate a second Toyota vehicle with a compatible system.
- Step 5: Once the remote is accepted, the LED will turn off, the vehicle will chirp once, and the exterior lights will flash. In some cases, only a single horn chirp will confirm programming.
- Step 6: To program additional remotes, repeat Steps 2 through 4 for each remote.
- Step 7: When all remotes are programmed, turn the ignition OFF to exit programming mode.
