Programming Guide for 2000 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – Cadillac Escalade
Important Notice: When entering remote programming mode, all previously paired remotes will be erased. To ensure continued functionality, you must reprogram every remote you wish to use during the same session. The system supports a maximum of four remote fobs.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Prepare the Ignition Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the RUN position (do not start the engine), then return it to the OFF position. This step initiates system readiness.
- Step 2: Remove the Radio Fuse Locate the vehicle’s Radio fuse—typically Fuse #17 in the interior fuse panel—and remove it. This enables access to the keyless entry programming sequence.
- Step 3: Enter Programming Mode Turn the ignition from OFF to RUN three times in rapid succession, completing all three cycles within five seconds. The vehicle will respond by automatically locking all doors, unlocking the driver’s door, and activating the tailgate or rear doors. This series of actions confirms that the system is now in remote programming mode.
- Step 4: Program the First Remote Press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the first remote at the same time. Hold both buttons for approximately 15 seconds, or until you hear the door locks cycle (lock and unlock), indicating successful programming.
- Step 5: Program Additional Remotes (If Needed) Repeat Step 4 for each additional remote you wish to program. All remotes must be programmed in the same session. Wait for the lock cycle after each remote to confirm successful pairing. Up to four remotes can be programmed to the system.
- Step 6: Restore Fuse and Exit Programming Mode Reinsert the Radio fuse that was removed in Step 2. This action exits programming mode and restores normal vehicle operation.
- Step 7: Test All Remotes Verify that each programmed remote functions properly by testing the lock, unlock, and tailgate/rear door operations.
Additional Considerations:
Time-Sensitive: Complete programming of all remotes in one session. Exiting the mode will erase any remotes not included.
Check Remote Batteries: Each remote should have a fresh battery to ensure successful programming.
Fuse Panel Access: Refer to your owner’s manual for the precise location of Fuse #17, as fuse box layouts may vary slightly.
System Limit: A maximum of four remotes can be stored in the system at any given time.
Estimated Time: The entire process generally takes less than 10 minutes.
