2000 Honda Odyssey – Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions
EX Models (Factory or Dealer-Installed Keyless Entry System)
Important Notes: This system supports up to three remotes. It uses stacking memory—if a fourth remote is programmed, the first remote will be deleted. All steps must be performed within 4 seconds of each other to maintain programming mode. The remote must be pointed toward the receiver unit located near the glove box during programming.
Programming Procedure – EX Models:
- Step 1: Turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position without starting the engine.
- Step 2: Within 4 seconds, press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on one of the remotes. Ensure the remote is directed at the receiver near the glove compartment.
- Step 3: Within 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch to the LOCK (0) position.
- Step 4: Repeat Steps 1–3 two more times using the same remote. This results in a total of three ignition cycles.
- Step 5: After completing the cycles, turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position again.
- Step 6: Within 4 seconds, press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the same remote. Wait for the door locks to cycle—this confirms entry into programming mode. Then press the button a second time to complete programming for that remote.
- Step 7: To add more remotes, press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on each additional remote within 10 seconds of the previous one. The door locks should cycle after each remote is accepted.
- Step 8: Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) to exit programming mode.
- Step 9: Test all remotes to ensure they operate the locks correctly.
LX Models (Dealer-Installed Keyless Entry System Only)
Note: Entering programming mode erases all previously stored remotes. Ensure all remotes you intend to use are programmed during the same session. Each step must be completed within 5 seconds to remain in programming mode.
Programming Procedure – LX Models:
- Step 1: Turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position.
- Step 2: Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on one of the remotes. You may use either a programmed or unprogrammed remote for this step.
- Step 3: Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Step 4: Repeat Steps 1–3 two additional times using the same remote. This will cycle the ignition three times total.
- Step 5: Turn the ignition switch back to the ON (II) position.
- Step 6: Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button again on the same remote. The door locks should cycle, confirming programming mode has been activated.
- Step 7: Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on each remote you wish to program. Wait for the locks to cycle after each input to confirm successful programming.
- Step 8: Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) to exit programming mode.
- Step 9: Test all remotes to verify proper functionality.
