Programming Guide for 2000 Lexus RX300 Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: The 2000 Lexus RX300 requires a manual sequence to program keyless entry remotes. Timing and procedure accuracy are critical. All remotes to be used must be available during programming.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Preparation Remove the key from the ignition. Ensure the driver's door is open and unlocked, and all other doors are closed. Insert the key into the ignition, then immediately remove it.
  • Step 2: Begin Programming Mode Within 40 seconds, perform the following: Press the power door lock switch to the LOCK position, then within one second press it to the UNLOCK position. Repeat the lock/unlock cycle five times. After the fifth cycle, close and reopen the driver’s door.
  • Step 3: Select Programming Mode Within 40 seconds, repeat the same lock/unlock cycle five times again (without closing or reopening the door). Insert the key into the ignition. Turn the ignition switch from LOCK to ON and then back to LOCK, cycling it the specific number of times corresponding to the desired mode (see table below). Remove the key from the ignition.
  • Step 4: Confirmation of Programming Mode The door locks will cycle automatically to confirm the mode: 1 time for Add Mode 2 times for Rewrite Mode 3–4 times for Confirmation Mode (number of programmed remotes) 5 times for Prohibition Mode
  • Step 5: Program the Remote Fob Within 40 seconds after selecting Add, Rewrite, or Prohibition Mode: Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote simultaneously for at least 1.5 seconds. Release, then within 3 seconds, press either button (LOCK or UNLOCK) for at least 1 second.
  • Step 6: Confirm Remote Acceptance If programming is successful, the door locks will cycle once. If unsuccessful, the locks will cycle twice. If unsuccessful, return to Step 5 within 40 seconds to try again.
  • Step 7: Finalize Programming Programming will end automatically when one of the following occurs: 40 seconds pass without activity. Driver’s door is closed. Key is inserted into the ignition. Four remotes have been successfully registered.

Additional Notes:

  • Only four remotes can be stored at once. Exceeding this will overwrite the oldest remote. Timing is very strict—if any step exceeds the time limit, the system will exit programming mode and you must restart.
