Programming Guide for 2000 Mazda 626 Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: The 2000 Mazda 626 allows on-board programming for remote key fobs. All remotes—including those previously programmed—must be programmed together during the same session. The procedure must be completed within the specified time frame for successful entry into programming mode.

Programming Instructions:

  • Step 1: Remove the key from the ignition.
  • Step 2: Ensure all vehicle doors are completely closed.
  • Step 3: Open the driver’s door and leave it open.
  • Step 4: Within 24 seconds, perform the following actions: a. Insert the key into the ignition. b. Turn the key to the ON position (without starting the engine), then back to OFF. c. Repeat Step b two more times (three ON/OFF cycles total). d. Remove the key from the ignition. e. Press the driver door frame switch (the black rubber button on the door frame that detects whether the door is closed) three times.
  • Step 5: Wait for a chime, buzzing sound, or door lock/unlock action, which confirms the vehicle has entered programming mode. If no response is heard, wait 40 seconds, then repeat the process starting from Step 4.
  • Step 6: Program each remote by pressing any button twice on the transmitter. A chime, buzz, or lock/unlock cycle will confirm successful programming. If only one remote is available, repeat this step two more times using the same remote. If programming two remotes, repeat this step two more times using the second remote.
  • Step 7: Press the driver door frame switch once. You should hear two chimes, buzzes, or two lock/unlock cycles, confirming that the programming process is complete.
