Programming Guide for 2000 Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: This vehicle supports onboard programming for standard keyless entry remote fobs using a simple ignition cycle method. All remotes must be programmed during the same session. Any remote not included will be removed from the system’s memory.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Sit inside the vehicle and ensure all doors are closed. Have all remote fobs on hand before beginning.
- Step 2: Insert the key into the ignition cylinder but do not start the engine.
- Step 3: Within three seconds, turn the key from the OFF position to the RUN position four times, ending with the key in the RUN position on the fourth turn.
- Step 4: Observe the door locks. They will automatically lock and then unlock, confirming that the system has entered programming mode.
- Step 5: Within 20 seconds, press any button on the first remote fob. The door locks will cycle again to confirm the remote has been accepted.
- Step 6: If programming a second remote, press any button on it within 20 seconds of the previous remote. The locks will cycle once more to confirm successful programming.
- Step 7: Repeat Step 6 for each additional remote, ensuring no more than 20 seconds elapse between each.
- Step 8: When all remotes have been programmed, turn the ignition to the OFF position to exit programming mode.
- Step 9: Remove the key and test all remotes to ensure the lock and unlock functions are working correctly.
- Step 10: If any remote does not operate as expected, repeat the entire process from Step 1, being mindful of the required timing for each step.
Additional Considerations: All remotes must be programmed together—any remote not included during the session will no longer function. Timing is essential for successful programming. Perform each action within the designated time window. Check the battery condition in each remote before beginning, as weak batteries may prevent successful registration.
