Programming Guide for 2000 Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: This vehicle supports onboard programming for keyless entry remote fobs. To successfully program new or replacement remotes, all fobs must be programmed during the same session. Any remote not included will be erased from the system.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Sit in the driver’s seat with all doors fully closed.
- Step 2: Have all remote fobs you intend to program readily available. Each must be programmed during this session.
- Step 3: Insert the key into the ignition switch but do not start the engine.
- Step 4: Within 10 seconds, turn the key from the OFF position to the RUN position eight times, ending on the eighth turn with the key in the RUN position. Perform this sequence quickly and evenly.
- Step 5: If completed correctly, the door locks will automatically lock and unlock, confirming that the vehicle has entered programming mode.
- Step 6: Within 20 seconds, press any button on the first remote fob. The door locks will cycle again to indicate successful programming.
- Step 7: If programming a second remote, press any button on it within 20 seconds of programming the first. The door locks will cycle again to confirm the second remote has been accepted.
- Step 8: Repeat Step 7 for any additional remotes. Ensure each is programmed within 20 seconds of the last.
- Step 9: Once all remotes have been programmed, turn the ignition to the OFF position.
- Step 10: The door locks will cycle one final time, confirming the vehicle has exited programming mode.
- Step 11: Remove the key from the ignition and test all remote fobs to ensure that lock and unlock functions work correctly.
Additional Considerations: All remotes must be programmed during the same session. Any remote not included will no longer operate the vehicle. Timing is crucial. Failing to meet the time limits for ignition cycling or remote input will cancel the programming. Ensure the batteries in each remote are in good working condition before beginning the procedure.
