2000 Subaru Legacy Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions
Important Notice: The 2000 Subaru Legacy supports onboard programming for keyless entry remotes. Up to four remotes can be programmed during a single session. Follow the instructions below carefully for successful setup.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Sit in the driver’s seat and ensure all doors, including the trunk or liftgate, are fully closed and unlocked.
- Step 2: Open the driver’s door, then close it one time.
- Step 3: Insert the key into the ignition. Turn it from the ""OFF"" position to the ""ON"" position (dashboard lights on, engine off), then back to ""OFF"" a total of ten times quickly. This must be completed within 15 seconds.
- Step 4: After the tenth cycle, you should hear the horn beep once, indicating the vehicle has entered remote programming mode.
- Step 5: Open and close the driver’s door one time to proceed with programming.
- Step 6: Press any button on the remote you wish to program. The horn will beep twice to confirm successful registration.
- Step 7: To program additional remotes, open and close the driver’s door again, then press a button on the next remote. You will hear two horn beeps after each successful addition. You may program up to four remotes in total.
- Step 8: When all remotes are programmed, remove the key from the ignition. The horn will beep three times to signal that programming mode has ended.
- Step 9: Wait approximately two minutes to allow the system to reset before testing the remotes.
- Step 10: Press the Lock button on a remote. The doors should lock and the vehicle’s alarm system will activate.
- Step 11: Press the Unlock button once to disarm the alarm and unlock the driver’s door. Press it again to unlock all doors and the trunk.
