2000 Toyota Camry – Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Guide
Important Notice: This procedure allows you to program keyless entry remotes directly through the vehicle. Follow each step carefully and within the time limits specified. Timing is essential for successful programming.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Begin with the key out of the ignition. The driver’s door must be open and unlocked, with all other doors closed.
- Step 2: Insert the key into the ignition (do not turn it), then remove it.
- Step 3: Within 40 seconds, complete the following: Using the power door lock switch on the driver’s door, perform five lock/unlock cycles, beginning with lock. (One cycle = lock + unlock. Use an even pace of about one cycle per second.) Close the driver’s door, then reopen it.
- Step 4: Within the next 40 seconds, perform the following: Using the power door lock switch, repeat five lock/unlock cycles, starting with lock. Insert the key into the ignition. Turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start), then turn it OFF. Repeat: Turn the ignition ON, then OFF again. Remove the key from the ignition.
- Step 5: Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should automatically cycle (lock and unlock) to indicate that the vehicle has entered programming mode. If the locks do not cycle, repeat from Step 1.
- Step 6: Within 40 seconds, program each remote as follows: A. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1 second, then release. B. Immediately press and hold the LOCK button for 2 seconds, then release. The door locks should cycle once, confirming successful programming. If the locks cycle twice, the remote was not accepted. Repeat steps A and B. C. Repeat Steps A and B for each additional remote.
- Step 7: Close the driver’s door to exit programming mode.
