2000 Toyota Celica Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions

Important Notice: The 2000 Toyota Celica supports onboard programming for keyless entry remotes. Each step must be performed accurately and within the specified timeframes for successful programming.

Programming Procedure:

  • Step 1: Prepare the Vehicle Ensure the key is out of the ignition. Open the driver’s door and leave it open. All other doors should be closed, and the driver’s door must remain unlocked.
  • Step 2: Initial Key Insertions (Complete Within 5 Seconds) A. Insert the key into the ignition (do not turn), then remove it. B. Insert the key again (do not turn), then remove it.
  • Step 3: Door Movement Sequence (Complete Within 40 Seconds) A. Close and reopen the driver’s door. B. Close and reopen the driver’s door again. C. Insert the key into the ignition (do not turn), then remove it.
  • Step 4: Ignition and Final Door Movements (Complete Within 40 Seconds) A. Close and reopen the driver’s door. B. Close and reopen the driver’s door again. C. Insert the key into the ignition and leave it in place. D. Close the driver’s door. E. Turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start the engine), then turn it OFF. F. Remove the key from the ignition.
  • Step 5: Confirm Programming Mode Within 3 seconds, the door locks should automatically lock and unlock, indicating successful entry into programming mode. If the locks do not cycle, repeat the process starting from Step 1.
  • Step 6: Program the Remote(s) (Complete Within 40 Seconds) A. Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1.5 seconds, then release. B. Immediately press and hold the lock button for 2 seconds, then release. If successful, the door locks will lock and unlock once. If the locks cycle twice, the remote was not accepted—repeat steps A and B. C. Repeat this step for any additional remotes.
  • Step 7: Exit Programming Mode Open the driver’s door to complete the process.
