Programming Guide for 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: The 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette supports on-board programming of keyless entry remotes using the BCM PRGRM fuse method. This process erases all previously stored remotes, so all remotes must be programmed in the same session.

Programming Instructions:

  • Step 1: Remove the key from the ignition.
  • Step 2: Open the front passenger door to access the fuse panel. Use the fuse panel diagram to locate and remove the BCM PRGRM fuse.
  • Step 3: Make sure all doors and the liftgate are completely closed.
  • Step 4: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ACC position (one click toward you, opposite from the engine start position).
  • Step 5: Within 1 second, turn the ignition to OFF, then back to ACC.
  • Step 6: Open and close any door. A chime will sound, confirming the system has entered programming mode.
  • Step 7: On the first remote, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously. After approximately 7 seconds, a chime may sound, indicating the remote has synchronized. Continue holding the buttons for about 14 seconds total, until a second chime confirms successful programming.
  • Step 8: Repeat Step 7 for each additional remote you wish to program, including any previously used remotes.
  • Step 9: Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key.
  • Step 10: Reinstall the BCM PRGRM fuse into the fuse panel.
  • Step 11: Test each remote to verify full functionality.
