Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Guide – 2001 Toyota Echo
Important Notice: This procedure programs the remote functions (lock and unlock) of the keyless entry fob. Follow each step carefully and within the specified time limits to successfully complete the programming process.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Begin with the key removed from the ignition. Ensure the driver’s door is open and unlocked, while all other doors remain closed.
- Step 2: (Complete within 5 seconds) Insert the key into the ignition without turning it, then remove it. Repeat this action once more (for a total of two insertions and removals).
- Step 3: (Complete within 40 seconds) Close the driver’s door, then open it. Repeat the door cycle once more (close and open). Insert the key into the ignition without turning it, then remove it.
- Step 4: (Complete within 40 seconds) Close the driver’s door, then open it again. Repeat the close and open sequence once more. Insert the key into the ignition and leave it in place. Close the driver’s door. Turn the ignition to the "ON" position (do not start the engine), then turn it back to the "OFF" position. Remove the key from the ignition.
- Step 5: Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should automatically cycle (lock, then unlock) to confirm entry into programming mode. If the locks do not respond, restart the procedure from Step 1.
- Step 6: (Complete within 40 seconds) For each remote you wish to program: Press and hold both the Lock and Unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously for approximately 1.5 seconds. Immediately release both buttons, then press and hold the Lock button alone for about 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds, the door locks should lock and then unlock once to confirm successful programming. If the locks cycle twice, repeat the button sequence as the remote was not accepted. Repeat this process for each additional remote fob.
- Step 7: Open the driver’s door to finalize and exit programming mode.
