Programming Guide for 2002 Smart Keyless Entry Remote Fob – Cadillac Escalade
Important Notice: The 2002 Escalade supports onboard programming for keyless entry remotes. All previously programmed remotes must be reprogrammed during the same session. If a remote is not included during this process, it will no longer function with the vehicle.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Prepare the Vehicle Ensure all vehicle doors are fully closed before beginning the procedure.
- Step 2: Insert the Ignition Key Place the key into the ignition cylinder but do not turn it yet.
- Step 3: Hold the Power Unlock Button On the driver’s door panel, press and hold the power UNLOCK button. Keep this button pressed and continue holding it until Step 9.
- Step 4: Perform the Following Steps Quickly In the next steps, the ignition must be cycled quickly. Be prepared to move through Steps 5 to 8 in rapid succession.
- Step 5: Turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start the engine).
- Step 6: Turn the ignition OFF.
- Step 7: Turn the ignition ON again.
- Step 8: Turn the ignition OFF once more.
- Step 9: Release the Unlock Button Let go of the power UNLOCK button. If the procedure was successful, the door locks will cycle (lock and unlock automatically). If the locks do not cycle, the vehicle did not enter programming mode. In this case: Remove the key from the ignition Open the driver’s door Return to Step 1 and repeat the process
- Step 10: Program the First Remote Press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the first remote simultaneously. Continue holding for up to 30 seconds, or until the door locks cycle, confirming successful programming.
- Step 11: Program Additional Remotes (If Applicable) Repeat Step 10 for each additional remote, including any previously functioning ones. Each remote must be programmed during this same session.
- Step 12: Exit Programming Mode Turn the ignition to the ON position to finalize the programming and exit remote learning mode.
- Step 13: Test All Remotes Confirm that each remote operates correctly by checking the lock, unlock, and trunk or tailgate functions.
Additional Considerations:
All Remotes Must Be Reprogrammed Together: Any remotes not included in this session will be erased from memory.
Battery Check: Ensure all remotes have functional batteries to avoid failed programming.
Number of Supported Remotes: The system typically supports up to four remotes.
Timing Is Crucial: Steps 5 through 8 must be performed quickly to activate programming mode.
