Programming Guide for 2002 Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: This model supports onboard programming for standard keyless entry remotes. The procedure requires only the vehicle's ignition key and all remotes must be programmed during a single session. Any remote not included during the session will no longer operate the system.

Programming Instructions:

  • Step 1: Sit inside the vehicle with all remote fobs you plan to program. Close all doors before starting the procedure.
  • Step 2: Insert the ignition key and turn it from the OFF position to the RUN position four times within six seconds, ending in the OFF position. Do not start the engine. Perform this cycle quickly and smoothly.
  • Step 3: After the fourth cycle, watch the LED located in the clock or trip computer. It should illuminate and remain lit, indicating the vehicle has entered programming mode.
  • Step 4: Within 20 seconds, press any button on the first remote. The LED will blink four times, confirming successful programming.
  • Step 5: Within another 20 seconds, press any button on the second remote, if applicable. The LED will flash again to confirm it has been added.
  • Step 6: Repeat the previous step for any additional remotes. Ensure each remote is programmed within 20 seconds of the last.
  • Step 7: Once all remotes have been programmed, turn the ignition key to the RUN position one final time. The LED will turn off, indicating that the vehicle has exited programming mode.
  • Step 8: Remove the key from the ignition and test each remote to confirm that the lock and unlock functions operate as expected.
  • Step 9: If a remote does not function, repeat the process from Step 1, making sure each action is completed within the proper time frame.
  • Step 10: Check the condition of the remote batteries if problems persist, as weak batteries may interfere with successful programming.

Additional Considerations: All remotes must be programmed in the same session to remain functional. Timing is critical—delays between steps can cause the system to cancel programming mode. Battery condition matters—replace remote batteries in advance to ensure optimal signal strength.
