Programming Guide for 2002 Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: This vehicle allows onboard programming of standard keyless entry remote fobs through a timed ignition cycle. All remotes must be programmed during the same session. Any remote not included will be removed from the system’s memory.
Programming Instructions:
- Step 1: Sit in the driver’s seat with all doors closed. Make sure you have all remote fobs ready to program before starting.
- Step 2: Insert the ignition key into the ignition switch, but do not start the engine.
- Step 3: Within three seconds, turn the ignition key from the OFF position to the RUN position four times, ending in the RUN position on the fourth turn. Complete this cycle quickly and smoothly.
- Step 4: The door locks will automatically lock and then unlock, confirming that the vehicle has entered programming mode.
- Step 5: Within 20 seconds, press any button on the first remote fob. The door locks will cycle again to indicate successful programming.
- Step 6: If you are programming a second remote, press any button on that remote within 20 seconds of programming the first. The door locks will again cycle to confirm that the second remote has been registered.
- Step 7: Repeat Step 6 for any additional remotes, ensuring each one is programmed within 20 seconds of the previous remote.
- Step 8: When all remotes have been programmed, turn the ignition key to the OFF position. This will exit programming mode.
- Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition and test each remote to verify that lock and unlock functions are operating as expected.
- Step 10: If any remote fails to function, restart the process from Step 1, ensuring that all steps are completed within the required time limits.
Additional Considerations: All remotes must be programmed during the same session. Any that are not included will be erased from the system. Time-sensitive steps must be followed precisely. Exceeding the time window will cancel programming mode. Check remote batteries before beginning. Low battery power can interfere with successful programming.
