Programming Guide for 2002 Keyless Entry Remote Fob

Important Notice: Ensure you follow all steps carefully and make the proper connections to avoid any issues with programming. If the process does not work as expected, seek professional help.

Step-by-Step Programming Instructions:

  • Step 1: Locate the Data Port Identify the Data Port, which is located under the driver’s side dashboard, typically to the right of the steering column.
  • Step 2: Insert the Keys into the Ignition Insert the vehicle keys into the ignition and set the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  • Step 3: Ensure Metal Contact Pins are Present Confirm that terminals 1 and 4 in the Data Port have metal contact pins. This is necessary to make a proper connection for programming.
  • Step 4: Connect the Jumper Wire Using a suitable jumper wire, connect terminals 1 and 4 in the Data Port. Leave the jumper wire in place for the entire programming process. Be sure to correctly identify which terminals are 1 and 4.
  • Step 5: Enter Programming Mode Within 10 seconds of connecting the jumper wire, press the Hazard Switch six times. The doors will lock and unlock automatically once, indicating that the system has entered programming mode.
  • Step 6: Program the First Remote Press the LOCK button on the remote you wish to register three times within 10 seconds. If successful, the doors will lock and unlock once to confirm programming.
  • Step 7: Program Additional Remotes To program additional remotes, press the LOCK button on each one three times within 10 seconds. You can program up to 4 remotes (including any existing remotes) within one minute. After programming each remote, the doors will lock and unlock once to confirm the successful registration.
  • Step 8: Test the Remotes After programming, test the remotes by pressing the lock/unlock buttons to ensure they are functioning correctly.
  • Step 9: Disconnect the Jumper Wire Once all remotes have been successfully programmed, disconnect the jumper wire from the Data Port.
  • Step 10: Remove the Keys from the Ignition Finally, remove the keys from the ignition to complete the programming procedure.
