Programming a 2002 Toyota Celica Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: This vehicle does not support on-board programming for its keyless entry remote fobs. The programming procedure requires specific sequential actions to be performed manually.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Preparation Ensure all doors are closed except the driver's door, which should be open and unlocked. Start with the key out of the ignition.
- Step 2: Initial Key Insertions (within 5 seconds) Insert the key into the ignition without turning it and remove it twice.
- Step 3: Door Sequence (within 40 seconds) Close and then open the driver’s door twice. Insert the key into the ignition and remove it once more.
- Step 4: Key and Door Manipulation (within 40 seconds) Repeat the closing and opening of the driver’s door twice with the key left in the ignition on the final insertion. Close the driver’s door, turn the ignition to ON (do not start the vehicle), then back to OFF, and remove the key.
- Step 5: Programming Mode Activation The vehicle’s door locks should automatically lock and unlock, indicating successful entry into programming mode. If not, restart from Step 1.
- Step 6: Remote Programming (within 40 seconds) Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1.5 seconds. Then, immediately press and hold the lock button for 2 seconds. The door locks should cycle once to indicate successful programming; if they cycle twice, repeat the process for the remote.
- Step 7: Completion Open the driver’s door to exit programming mode.
Additional Considerations:
- Multiple Remotes: If programming additional remotes, repeat Step 6 for each remote.
