Programming Instructions for a 2002 Toyota Echo Keyless Entry Remote Fob Smart Key
Important Notice: On-board programming is not supported for this vehicle's keyless entry remote fobs. The programming requires precise manual steps to be followed.
Detailed Programming Steps:
- Step 1: Setup Ensure all doors are closed except for the driver's door, which should remain open and unlocked. Begin with the ignition key removed.
- Step 2: Key Insertion Sequence (within 5 seconds) Insert the ignition key into the ignition switch and promptly remove it. Repeat this action twice, ensuring not to turn the key.
- Step 3: Door Handling Sequence (within 40 seconds) Close and then open the driver's door twice. Afterwards, insert the ignition key into the switch and remove it once again.
- Step 4: Further Door and Key Manipulations (within 40 seconds) Close and open the driver's door two additional times. Insert the key into the ignition and leave it there on the final insertion.
- Step 5: Final Key Adjustment With the key in the ignition, close the driver’s door. Turn the ignition to ON (without starting the engine), then back to OFF. Remove the key from the ignition.
- Step 6: Activate Programming Mode Watch for the vehicle’s door locks to automatically lock and then unlock, signaling successful entry into programming mode. If this does not occur, restart from Step 1.
- Step 7: Remote Programming (within 40 seconds) Press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1.5 seconds. Then, press and hold the lock button alone for 2 seconds. The door locks should cycle once to indicate successful programming; if they cycle twice, the process must be repeated for the remote.
- Step 8: Programming Additional Remotes Repeat Step 7 for each additional remote you wish to program, ensuring all actions are completed within 40 seconds of the first remote being programmed.
- Step 9: Exiting Programming Mode Open the driver's door to exit the programming mode.
