2003 Acura CL – Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions

Important: You can program up to three remotes. All remotes must be programmed during the same session. If you leave one out, it will not function afterward.

Step-by-Step Programming Instructions: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ON (II) position (do not start the engine).

  • Within 1–4 seconds, press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the remote while pointing it toward the receiver (aim toward the steering wheel area).
  • Within 1–4 seconds, turn the ignition OFF.
  • Within 1–4 seconds, turn the ignition back to the ON (II) position.
  • Within 1–4 seconds, press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the remote again.
  • Within 1–4 seconds, turn the ignition OFF.
  • Within 4 seconds, turn the ignition to the ON (II) position again.
  • Within 1–4 seconds, press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the remote.
  • Within 4 seconds, turn the ignition OFF.
  • Within 4 seconds, turn the ignition back to the ON (II) position.
  • Within 1–4 seconds, press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the remote again. You should now hear the door lock actuators cycle. This indicates the vehicle has entered programming mode.
  • Within 1–4 seconds, press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the remote again to confirm the code.
  • Within 10 seconds, program any additional remotes (up to two more). For each one: Aim it at the receiver (toward the steering wheel). Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button. Confirm that the door locks cycle, indicating successful programming. Once all remotes are programmed, turn the ignition OFF and remove the key. Test each remote to ensure all functions (lock, unlock, trunk release if applicable) work correctly."
