2003 BMW 3 Series – Keyless Entry Remote Fob Programming Instructions

Important Notice: This procedure programs only the remote (keyless entry) functions of the key fob. The mechanical key blade must be cut, and the immobilizer transponder chip must be programmed separately by a qualified technician to start the engine.

Programming Procedure:

• Step 1: Sit inside the vehicle with all doors closed and windows up to avoid interruption during programming.
• Step 2: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to Position 1 (the first click—accessory mode), then turn it back to OFF. Complete this step within 5 seconds.
• Step 3: Remove the key from the ignition.
• Step 4: On the remote, press and hold the ""Unlock"" button. While holding the unlock button, press the ""Lock"" button three times within 5 seconds.
• Step 5: Release both buttons.
• Step 6: The door locks will cycle (lock and unlock) to confirm that the remote has been successfully programmed.

Additional Notes:

• If you have additional remotes to program, repeat Steps 4 through 6 immediately after completing the first one. All remotes must be programmed during the same session. If the door locks do not cycle, restart the procedure from Step 1.
