Programming Guide for 2003 Keyless Entry Remote Fob
Important Notice: Before beginning, ensure you have all remotes you plan to use. During programming, all previously stored remotes will be deleted from the system. Any remote not programmed during this session will no longer function. This procedure applies only to keyless entry remote fobs and does not include ignition key programming.
Programming Procedure:
- Step 1: Sit in the driver’s seat and close all vehicle doors securely.
- Step 2: Insert the ignition key into the ignition cylinder.
- Step 3: Turn the key to the ON position (as far as it will go without starting the engine).
- Step 4: Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key from the ignition.
- Step 5: Press and hold the UNLOCK button on the driver’s door power lock switch.
- Step 6: While continuing to hold the UNLOCK button, insert the key into the ignition and immediately remove it. Do not turn the key.
- Step 7: Repeat Step 6 a second time: insert and remove the key again, without turning it.
- Step 8: Insert the key into the ignition a third time and leave it in the ignition. Do not turn the key.
- Step 9: Release the UNLOCK button on the driver’s door. The vehicle will emit three chimes, confirming entry into programming mode.
- Step 10: On the first remote, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously.
- Step 11: Hold both buttons for about 15 seconds, or until the vehicle emits two beeps, indicating the remote has been successfully programmed.
- Step 12: Repeat Steps 10 and 11 for any additional remotes. The system allows a maximum of four remote fobs to be programmed during the same session.
- Step 13: After all remotes have been programmed, remove the key from the ignition.
- Step 14: The vehicle will emit a final chime, confirming that it has exited programming mode.
- Step 15: Test each remote to ensure all functions—such as lock, unlock, and panic—work correctly.
Additional Considerations:
Remote Limit: A maximum of four remotes can be programmed to this system.
Battery Condition: Ensure each remote has a fresh battery before beginning.
Ignition Key Programming: This process does not apply to ignition or transponder keys. A qualified technician with diagnostic equipment is required to program those.
If Programming Fails: If the vehicle does not enter programming mode or does not respond to remote input, restart the process from Step 1 and follow each step carefully.
